01274 754000

Dr Walsh’s background as a Consultant Psychiatrist places her in an ideal position to understand the complexities of medical and best interest disputes.

Having spent many years leading the development of specialist treatment for young people suffering from severe eating disorders, and as a qualified Mental Health Assessor under the Mental Capacity Act. Dr Walsh’s practice is informed by years of experience of managing conflict in highly charged emotional and life threating situations.

Dr Walsh is a member of CoPPA and was recently invited to attend the Prolonged Disorders of Consciousness: Exploring Best Interest Decision Making and End of Life Care to provide a mediation perspective on the British Medical Associations draft guidelines. This is addition to an interest in the work of the Medical Mediation Foundation whose aim is to promote mediation in medical disputes.

Dr Walsh is able to draw on her skills to ensure that parties are listened to, validated and understood, whilst balancing this with their desire for resolution. She is able to bring an ability to understand and explore the significant psychological investment that disputes bring. As such Dr Walsh is perfectly placed to help parties understand their barriers and needs to find a solution that works for them.

Dr Walsh is also a qualified workplace mediator, ideally placed to understand the unique challenges that present in healthcare that a non-clinical mediator may not always be able to readily distinguish.

Dr Walsh is therefore a uniquely skilled and informed mediator for all manner of disputes from the Court of Protection to Workplace and Commercial Mediation
